A CAR was stolen from Llanon before thieves crashed it and fled the scene, police have said.

The silver Audi A4 was stolen from Heol y D?r sometime around 5pm on Saturday, 18 August.

After stealing the car, the thieves – believed to be two men in their mid twenties – were then involved in a crash on the B4577 between Cross Inn and Bethania at 5.35pm.

The Audi collided with a green Ford Focus.

The two elderly occupants of the Focus had to be freed from the vehicle and were taken to hospital. Neither suffered serious injuries.

After being driven away from the scene, the Audi stopped further down the road, and two men fled the vehicle heading west towards Cross Inn, police said.
