Three men have been released while police continue their investigations after a car appeared to be “driven at” pedestrians on Aberystwyth promenade early on Saturday morning.
There has been horror and shock at footage of the incident, which shows a car being driven on the pavement on the promenade in the early hours of Saturday morning and appears to aim at pedestrians.
Police have said that three men were arrested following the incident where a car was driven "erratically and dangerously”.
They said one man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident and a second man refused medical treatment.
The footage showed the car being driven on the pavement and toward pedestrians before there was an altercation between people on foot.
Two men then got into the car involved and it drove off, with footage appearing to show another man struck by the car as it reversed.
Local councillor Ceredig Davies hit out at the people involved.
He said: “Sometimes words just aren’t enough to express complete and utter contempt for an individual acting in such a dangerous and thoughtless manner.
“It was by chance that nobody was killed.
“Whilst the safety of the public was the important factor there was structural damage done to the shelter.”
