A WEIGHTLIFTER involved in a motorcycle crash on the Talyllyn Pass has tragically lost his life, leaving behind his six-month-old baby.
North Wales Police have confirmed that a motorcyclist has sadly died following a collision between two motorbikes on bank holiday Sunday, 6 May.
25-year-old Huw Moss Hughes, who was from the Pwllheli area, died in hospital in Stoke yesterday.
Huw is the second motorcyclist to lose his life over the bank holiday weekend after 57-year-old Michael Stephen Williams was killed in a collision near Bala on Monday.
Mr Moss Hughes’ family have paid an emotional tribute to a “hardworking, fun loving son, partner, father, big brother and friend”.
“We are all heartbroken and devastated following the tragic event on Sunday,” his family said.
“Huw was loved by us all and will be very sorely missed. He was a proud father to a six-month-old daughter who he was besotted with.
"Only last year he passed his plastering qualification with distinction and he worked hard for the family building company.
“He enjoyed working out, especially weightlifting. He was due to attend the Bodypower event at the NEC this weekend where he had progressed to the National Championship.
"He was so popular amongst all his friends. As a family we were so incredibly proud of Huw and our lives will never be the same without him.”
North Wales Police are investigating the two-vehicle collision which happened shortly after 2pm on the A487 from the Cross Foxes towards Talyllyn lake involving two motorcycles.
The second motorcyclist was unharmed.
Sergeant Meurig Jones of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this difficult time.
“The collision is being investigated and the family are being supported by a Family Liaison Officer. We are also continuing to appeal for any witnesses to contact us as soon as possible.”
Anybody who may have information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference number W058707.
