A 46-year-old man has died following a collision between two motorcycles earlier this afternoon, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the A487 in Corris at 12.20pm today (Sunday, 10 October) after reports of a collision between two motorcycles near the Craft Centre in the village and the road has been closed for several hours as a result.
North Wales Police has this evening released a statement, saying: “A 46-year-old man has sadly died following a collision on the A487 in Corris, Gwynedd.
“Shortly before 12.20pm today, we were made aware of a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving two motorcycles near to the Craft Centre.
“Emergency services including police, the Wales Air Ambulance and the Welsh Ambulance Service attended but sadly, despite the best efforts of a police officer, members of the public and ambulance crews who carried out CPR, one of the motorcyclists was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The road remains closed while emergency services deal with the incident.
“The road is expected to reopen around 6.20pm today.”
Sergeant Raymond Williams of the Roads Policing Unit said: “I offer my profound sympathies to the family of the motorcyclist, who are being supported by a specially trained officer at this difficult time.
“We are currently investigating this incident as a fatal road traffic collision and ask that any witnesses, who have not already come forward, to contact the police with any information or dash cam footage.
“I would like to thank road users for their patience and understanding whilst the road remains closed”.
