A MAN has died after two people were pulled from the sea off Aberystwyth this morning following a boating accident.
The man, understood to be from the Aberystwyth area, was recovered from the sea by RNLI Lifeboat volunteers approximately 500m off the shore of Aberystwyth South Beach along with another man at around 9.30am today.
.The emergency call was made by a member of the public who saw the boat the two men were travelling in going around in circles with no-one on board (see video below).
Aberystwyth RNLI Lifeboat crew administered CPR to one of the casualties after recovering both men from the water approximately 500m to the south of where the boat was spotted, near Castle Point.
The two men were transferred to Aberystwyth Marina, where RNLI Lifeboat volunteers, including a trained paramedic and First Responder, continued to administer CPR to the one man until two ambulances arrived.
After being taken to Bronglais Hospital in a critical condition it was confirmed this afternoon that the most seriously injured man has since died.
The other casualty is in a stable condition in Bronglais Hospital.
It is not clear how the accident happened or why the two men ended up in the water.
