POLICE have confirmed that a second body recovered from the sea on Saturday afternoon is that of missing teenager, Waseem Mohamed Muflahi.
Shortly after 2.10pm on Saturday, North Wales Police and other emergency services including the Barmouth Inshore Lifeboat attended a location on the coastline between Sunny Sands and Cae Daniel, near Llanaber where they recovered the body of a male from the sea.
Inspector Andy McGregor at North Wales Police said: “Yesterday (Saturday evening) Waseem was identified by family members and as with the family of his friend Yahye Omar Mohamed (who was identified on Friday evening by family members) Our thoughts are very much with them at this very difficult time.
"On behalf of the Family Liaison Officers who are supporting both families we ask you can respect their privacy at this time.”
Both boys had been reported missing after swimming in the sea off Barmouth on Sunday 7 August.
The deaths are not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner for North West Wales Mr Dewi Pritchard-Jones has been notified.
