North Wales Police are investigating bank holiday burglaries after two Barmouth businesses and a Tywyn business were targeted by thieves.
Barmouth’s Anchor Restaurant and Knickerbockers Ice Cream Parlour were burgled overnight on Monday, 6 May, and a break-in was also reported at Tywyn’s Victorian Slipway pub.
While Davina Jones-Lynch, the owner of the Anchor Restaurant and Knickerbockers Ice Cream Parlour, said the burglaries were disappointing, Barmouth mayor Jamie Brooks said he was hopeful CCTV cameras in the town would help identify the thieves.
The burglary at the Barmouth businesses saw a “significant” sum of money stolen after a busy bank holiday weekend, and Ms Jones-Lynch said while it was upsetting for the staff, they would continue working.
She said: “I’m very upset and can’t believe it’s happened really. It’s very upsetting.
“We’ll just carry on. We’ve worked hard to make it successful so we won’t give up.”
Cllr Brooks said businesses being affected by thieves was always disappointing, but it was hoped the police would be able to use CCTV footage to find those responsible.
