A string of properties in Aberystwyth and a house in Llangorwen were daubed with graffiti at the weekend.

Several properties in Aberystwyth town centre, including the Castle Theatre (pictured), have been hit by graffiti, and there has also been a case in Llangorwen, which police said they have been alerted to.

There was also reports of graffiti at Ynyslas

Carole Rees Jones, who reported the Llangorwen case to police, said that it had come as a shock in the village and left people upset.

She said: “It’s terrible. It’s left us upset in the village.

“It’s never ever happened before. It was a shock to us all.

“I can’t understand it. Did somebody stop to do it deliberately? I don’t think so.”

Cllr Ceredig Davies in Aberystwyth said: “It is totally irresponsible and if the culprits are found they should be made to clear their mess and recompense property owners for the damage they have made.

A police spokesperson confirmed that a report had been received about the incident near Clarach.

They said: “Sometime overnight on Friday, 3 January into Saturday, 4 January, graffiti was sprayed on the side of a garden wall of a property in Clarach.

“Anyone with any information that could help the investigation is asked to contact police on 101.”
