A FIRE chief has issued a warning over the potential dangers of electrical equipment, after a house fire in Penrhyndeudraeth which was caused by overloading an extension lead.
Fire fighters from Harlech, Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog were alerted to the house fire on Church Place at 3.21pm on Sunday, 18 September.
Two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and two thermal imaging cameras with triple extensions were used to extinguish the blaze.
The first floor suffered 100 per cent fire damage and 50 per cent smoke and water damage to the ground floor.
No one was hurt in the blaze.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the fire is thought to have been an electrical fault due to overloading an extension lead.
Stuart Millington, senior fire safety manager for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Electrical fires present a real risk to homeowners, often resulting in significant damage to property and sometimes with the most tragic consequences."
