A WOMAN was lucky to escape with non-life-threatening injuries after falling off Aberystwyth promenade near the Royal Pier.

Coastguards were called to assist police with transferring the “young woman” into an ambulance following the fall, which occurred at around 2.30am on Sunday, 3 December.

The woman was safely transferred to the ambulance and on to Bronglais Hospital. The ambulance service said her injuries “are not thought to be life-threatening”.

Royal Pier general manager Lee Price said: “A female member of the public was observed falling over the railings of the promenade and then myself and another first-aider went to assist the woman and contact the ambulance.

“We stayed with her until the relevant services arrived.”

Mr Price said the woman fell over the railings just to the south of the Royal Pier, near the taxi rank, and that she was doing “remarkably well” considering the height of the promenade here.

“She was conscious, speaking and moving her lower and upper limbs,” added Mr Price.
