A BLAENAU Ffestiniog woman who admitted harassing a convicted sex offender neighbour with threatening letters including a picture of a noose has received a 12-month community order.

April Stewart, 55, who is said to have mental health issues and has since moved to Pengelli Terrace, was also fined £100 with £170 costs and a two-year restraining order was made.

She was ordered to leave the courtroom at Caernarfon during the case after interrupting proceedings.

Diane Williams, prosecuting, told a district judge that Ian Cledwyn Williams had been scared after receiving threatening letters, including warnings of “the end is near” and “tân, tân, tân”, which translates to “fire, fire, fire”.

The prosecutor confirmed that Mr Williams had been convicted of a sexual offence.

Simon Sargent, defending, said Stewart couldn’t believe she had been housed, previously, next to Mr Williams and had been unable to cope with the situation.

“We are dealing with a very vulnerable individual (Stewart),” Mr Sargent said.

Judge Gerallt Jones told Stewart that “behaviour of this kind is unacceptable”.
