A Dolgellau resident has been left shaken after vandals smashed a window pane in her front door in the early hours of the morning.

The female resident, who lives by herself on Park Road and does not want to be named for fear of further damage, was awoken by a “terrible noise” just after 4am on Sunday morning.

After staying in her bedroom until the noise abated, she eventually headed downstairs to discover a window pane on her front door had been smashed and three other panes damaged.

North Wales Police are investigating the incident.

“There was such a noise by my door at 4am,” the resident told the Cambrian News.

“They have damaged three other panes and the glass is tough.

“They must have had a heavy object to smash it or used their fist.

“It was so loud. It was scary.

“The noise was terrible.

“One male and one female were seen by Henfaes Flats walking down at 4am shouting, they may have been picked up on CCTV.

“If it was them they have a chance to apologise and pay for the damage.”

The resident added: “Or, if they were not involved, perhaps they can say who did the damage as they were in the area and could see my house.”

A spokesperson for North Wales Police confirmed the frightening attack: “At 4.18am on Sunday morning, we received a report of a window smashed on Park Road, Dolgellau. Enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact police by calling 101 and quoting W157474.”
