I see one of your readers is full of praise for the Welsh Labour government, and I can understand why the letter was sent. May I, however, contribute some salient points. To my certain knowledge no Labour government has added to the country’s coffers.

A cutting I have from 2November 2007, states “So Gordon Brown has now lost £10 billion of taxpayers’ money, £3bn from the sale of half of our gold reserve; and £7bn lost through his flawed tax credit system...”

There are more than 9,000main charities in Wales. Every funeral of which I have learned has needed crowdfunding, to either pay for the funeral, and/ or support the family through difficult times.

A letter lower down the page states “NHS failed me in my hour of need”, and a letter in the third column states “MIUs are still closed; anxieties concerning community hospital closures and safeguarding beds” - proof of matters concentrating many people’s minds.

All the issues outlined indicate a great deal of work to be done, whichever party is in power.
