I write to express my support for Cllr Ceredig Davies’ call for the council’s ‘Gold Command’ to be scrapped and for the return of democracy to Ceredigion.
The dictatorial way that the so-called ‘safe zones’ have been established has brought great harm to the town - harm which could have been avoided had proper consultation with residents been made.
I would add that as one who has lived in Aberystwyth for all my life, it saddens me to see the state of the town, which Cllr Mair Benjamin has noted in a very pertinent message.
Surely the very large sum of money wasted on establishing the so-called ‘safe zones’ would have been better spent cleaning and tidying the town. Th eblocked drains, bird droppings everywhere, unkempt pavements and gutters, and ever-present litter seem to be completely neglected by the council’s Gold Command. How many of the Gold Command live in Aberystwyth, I wonder? Are they even aware of the problems?
I can promise one thing - at the next county council election, I shall vote only for candidates who promise to scrap the Gold Command.
