TWO ABERYSTWYTH women are appealing for cash to allow them to travel to Greece to help with the influx of Syrian refugees.
Emma Musty and her friend Ruth Hogg plan to travel to Moria on the island of Lesbos in January to help the thousands of refugees arriving there each week.
Almost 400,000 have arrived on the island this year alone on their journey to safety in Europe.
“I think for me it seems to be the right thing to do,” said Emma, a creative writing PhD student and part-time teacher at Aberystwyth University.
“If I was in their shoes I would definitely want people to come and support me in whatever way they could.
“The people of Lesbos have put a lot of work into the effort and it is unfair for them to bear the burden when it is a European problem.
“Being able to support other people shows solidarity with them and what they are going through.”
Emma and Ruth, who plan to travel out on 5 January, have already raised £645 of the £1,900 they need to raise.
