THE NEXT talk in the Cymdeithas Aberaeron winter series will be given by the renowned sculptor Sebastien Boyesen, who lives in Llangrannog, entitled Environmental and Integrated Design .Sebastien was born in Sussex and studied initially at the Cambridge College of Art and Technology and then at the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design. He has held the post of sculptor for heritage projects in York and was the town sculptor for the former Newport Borough Council in Gwent. Many of Sebastien’s public sculptures can be seen in south Wales and perhaps the most famous of these is the Six Bells Memorial which was commissioned in honour of the 45 miners who died in the Six Bells Colliery disaster of 1960. Possibly more familiar to many of us though is the statue of St Crannog overlooking Carreg Bica and Llangrannog, the artist’s home base. The talk is on Tuesday, 19 January, at 7.30pm in Tabernacl vestry.
