THE NEXT talk in the series will be held in the vestry of Tabernacl Chapel at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 16 February.Mark Lucas, the curator of the National Wool Museum at Drefach Felindre will give a talk on Brethyn Llwyd and the Welsh woolen industry in the First World War.Brethyn Llwyd was the name given to the grey cloth made by the Welsh woolen mills for the uniforms of the Welsh Army Corps that gave them their distinctive look. Controversy ensued as 13 mills were given contracts to produce the cloth and each came up with a different shade of grey. One came up with a shade so brown those who wore it were known as the chocolate soldiers!
