WI

CEREDIGION WI held a book quiz in Llwyncelyn Hall which was very well attended with 22 teams taking part.Some of the groups read a book in Welsh – Veritas by Marie Lisa.The winning group in that category was Llanddewi Brefi, with Cenarth the runners-up.The remaining groups read an English book, The Taxidermist’s Daughter by Kate Mosse, and the winners were Llanon, with Aberaeron the runners-up. This is always a very popular event run by the county WI’s public affairs group.

Aeron Valley Railway Society

IN A well-attended meeting at the Feathers Hotel, chairman Frank Poulter welcomed back John Jenkins after a recent spell in hospital.Members were then treated to an interesting presentation on the Kent and East Sussex preserved railway by guest speaker Paul Randall. They were given a full history of the railway from its early beginnings in the 1800s by way of pictorial records, as well as the expectations for the future of the railway.The next meeting is at the same venue on Wednesday, 20 April, at 7.30pm, with a presentation on the Elan Valley Railway by Ken Mumford.

Football Club

ON SATURDAY, 2 April, the first team are away to Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant with kick-off at 2.30pm. Recent results include a 3-1 loss against Llandrindod for the firsts.
