Reunion of county school 48ers
GLANYRAFON Arms, Talgarreg, was the venue once again for the 14th Annual Reunion Dinner of the Aberaeron 48ers. Twenty former Aberaeron County School pupils, who first entered the school in 1948, met as they celebrate their 80th birthdays this year.An excellent lunch was provided by their hosts, Megan and Hefin.A beautiful cake was presented by Margaret Williams, as was a celebratory drink provided by Barbara Davies.The former pupils present were: Tegwen Parry, Margaret Williams, Betty Elin Morris (Davies), Rosemary Nicholson (Jones), Barbara Davies (Warlow), Doromie Lloyd (Williams), Violet Griffiths (Whitfield), Nellie Dav-ies (Morgan), Eluned Griffiths (Jones), Howard Jones, Alun Jenkins, Granville Edwards, Alwyn Lloyd, Eryl Jones, Roy Jones, Gwyn Daniel, Dilwyn Davies, John Jenkins, Gwynne Griffiths and Glyn Davies.The guest speaker was Henry Jones, who entered the school two years before the group in 1946. Some friends who were unable to be present sent their apologies, amongst them Dai Edwards from Canada (who joins the group every two years) and Owen Davies from Australia.Next year’s reunion will take place on Friday, 7 April 2017.
RSPCA meeting
THE RSPCA Ceredigion Branch AGM will be held on Wednesday, 18 May, at Holy Trinity Church Hall at 7.30pm.After the AGM there will be an il-lustrated talk from Gareth Johnson, equine rehoming officer, on ‘My Life with Horses Past and Present’.Light refreshments will be served together with a raffle and cakes for sale.
