READINGS and rehearsals for the new season start on Tuesday, 13 September at the Memorial Hall at 7pm. The company is always on the look-out for new members, actors, backstage team or general helpers.

Carnival

ON AUGUST Bank Holiday Monday, Aberaeron enjoyed a full day of activities for the annual Carnival Day.

This year’s presidents were Mr and Mrs William Thomas, New Celtic Restaurant. The carnival queen was Grace Williams, with her attendants Jessica Jones and Jessica Sier.

Music was provided yet again by the Adamant Jazz Band and Samba Agogo of Aberystwyth. The carnival judges this year were Mr and Mrs Gwyn Jones.

The results are as follows: Best Dressed Vehicle: 101 Dalma-tians, Aeron Coast; Most Humorous or Topical Float: Welsh Football Team, Football Club; Best Children’s Dress (aged five and under): Maya Alldroyd; Best Children’s Dress (aged six to eight): Fflur McConnell; Best Children’s Dress (aged eight to 15): Cordelia Walker; Best Humorous Character (open): Avril Lewis; Best Humorous Group (Open): Clemas family.

Carnival organisers have thanked everyone who took part and came along to this year’s event.

As usual the local fund-raising branch of Cancer Research UK was present in Cae Sgwar to raise money for the charity and thanks to everyone who visited us and for your generosity. The total sum raised was £328.

The winner of the ‘Pot of Gold’ was C Williams and the second prize went to D Bevan. We are extremely grateful to both for their generosity in giving their winnings, a total of £30, back to the funds of Cancer Research.
