Birthday celebrations

THE Queen’s 90th Birthday celebrations took place all over the UK at the weekend and Aberdyfi joined in with events taking place both on Saturday and Sunday. Local band Pretty Visitors and Catch 22 from Aberystwyth started off the celebrations performing to an enthusiastic crowd on Saturday evening. On Sunday afternoon a Royal Picnic was held in a Marquee on the Wharf Gardens with everyone suitably dressed for the occasion. A very sociable and celebratory afternoon was spent with much appreciated entertainment from Aberystwyth’s Samba A Go Go Band, the Abergynolwyn Silver Band, the Dysynni Male Voice Choir and Tony Hughes Musician and One Man Band. John and Megan Reynolds and Chris Taylor organised the event. All proceeds were donated to Cancer Research Uk.
