A pub in Abergynolwyn has set up a food delivery service to help those in the community who are vulnerable during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Railway Inn is providing a meals on wheels service to people in the Abergynolwyn and communities further afield.
They say they will also be able to deliver bread, milk and other groceries if orders are placed the night before.
Gavin Gregory and his wife Alison manage the pub. They set up the service fully on Tuesday, 17 March.
Gavin told the Cambrian News about the service, and why it is important during the current climate.
He said: “We have had mainly positive feedback on the service. We went out and delivered around 100 leaflets. We’re looking to cover around a five to seven mile radius, out to Bryncrug and along to Corris.
“People in the village need a bit of help. The situation is currently not too bad, but it could get worse.
“Even if the pubs are told to close, we will carry on with the delivery service.”
Gavin added: “We had a couple of orders yesterday (17 March), a couple of orders last night and a few at lunchtime today (18 March). I think once people run low on food in the next week or so we will have lots more.”
Jill Baxter, who is 83, lives with her 85-year-old husband John in Abergynolwyn. She told the Cambrian News about the generosity of their local pub during the coronavirus outbreak.
She said: “It’s immensely kind, there is a list of meals at a fair price. We’re elderly, and not the only ones in the village.
“They are being so supportive of the community. The service is definitely something we will look to use in the future.”
