AN IDYLLIC Llyn Peninsula village has been recognised as one of the best places to live in the UK once again.
According to the latest Sunday Times Best Places to Live supplement, Abersoch is one of the top ten most liveable communities in Wales.
However, a local councillor has expressed his concerns that residents are at risk of being priced out of their own village as visitors and holiday-home buyers drive up costs.
The accolade comes ahead of the full reveal of the Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide, which was published on Sunday, 18 March.
The supplement assesses a wide range of factors, from jobs, schools and broadband speed to culture, community spirit and local shops, in order to compile the definitive top locations to live.
Cllr Dewi Roberts, who represents Abersoch, was delighted his town was recognised as a wonderful place to live but had concerns.
“I am pleased that Abersoch has been named as one of the top ten places to ‘live’ in Wales,” he said.
“It is a great place with a hard working community.
“House prices are of course very worrying for local people who mostly work in the tourism and or agricultural industry and often on low wages.
“We welcome visitors but it is essential that we try to maintain the culture and quaintness of the village which make it so appealing.”
