Merched yr Wawr

ABERYSTWYTH-based char-ity Merched y Wawr has won the Innovative Fund-raising category in the Third Sector Awards Cymru finals, organised by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action and sponsored by Class Networks. Merched y Wawr, with members across Wales, have been collecting accessories for the heart and have seen the sale of donated accessories raise more than £23,000 in its first year, all of which has been given to the British Heart Foundation in Wales. Jason Mohamed presented Meryl Davies (president), Gwyneth Griffiths (treasurer), Einir Wyn (secretary) and Tegwen Morris (national director) with a glass award. Meryl Davies thanked all the enthusiastic members and friends and said this award was for every single one of them for their valuable contribution to all collections undertaken.

Bridge Club THE ANNUAL party of the Bridge Club was held at Waunfawr hall with a buffet provided by Margaret Griffiths of Borth. This was followed by a game of bridge directed by Jeff Thomas. The winners were Vicky Edwards and Roger Boyle (n/s) and Gwynant Edwards and Tianhua Chan (e/ w).
