Cylch Cinio
ROEDD nos Wener, 13 Mai, yn noson lwcus i Dilwyn Jones, Talybont am mai ef oedd enillydd raffl y mis. Roedd hi’n noson wych i bawb arall oedd wedi ymgynnull yng nghyfarfod mis Mai o’r Cylch Cinio yng ngwesty’r Richmond ar y prom.Iestyn Hughes, Bow Street, y ffotograffydd meistrolgar ac awdur y gyfrol ddiweddar Ceredigion Wrth fy Nhraed oedd y gwr gwâdd. Yn ei gyflwyniad eglurodd gefndir y llyfr a chawsom stribed o hanesion difyr a sawl un doniol am lawer o’r lluniau sydd wedi eu cynnwys yn y gyfrol wych hon. Daethom i ddeall mai ffrwyth prosiect yw’r gyfrol wrth iddo fel hogyn o Ynys Môn, sydd wedi byw yn yr ardal hon am dalp o’i oes, ond oedd eto i ystyried ei hun yn Gardi mabwysiedig llawn. Cefnogwyd ei sgwrs gan nifer o luniau trawiadol a chofiadwy a gwelwyd ei fod bellach wedi dod i adnabod nodweddion yr ardal a’i fod wedi llawn ddarganfod ei wreiddiau newydd yn Sir y Cardis. Profodd fel mae Cymreictod y Sir yn ffynnu mewn gweithgareddau cymdeithasol megis Dydd Sadwrn Barlus, Par?d Aberystwyth, Rali Ffermwyr Ifanc ac eisteddfodau . Un o brif negeseuon ei gyflwyniad oedd bod Ceredigion yn llawer iawn mwy nag Aberystwyth a bod gweddill y Sir yn wahanol iawn i Aber.Diolchwyd iddo ar ran yr aelodau gan Gwynfryn Evans, Llandre.Mae darlun ffotograffig creadigol o Soar-y-Mynydd o waith Iestyn wedi ei gynnwys yn arddangosfa gyfredol Oriel Rhiannon yn Nhregaron ac anogodd y cadeirydd ar i bawb wneud ymdrech i ymweld â’r arddangosfa hon.Cydymdeimlodd y Cadeirydd John Lewis â David Harries sydd wedi colli ei fam yng nghyfraith ac anfonodd gofion y Cylch Cinio at Lona Jones, Erw Goch, Waunfawr ar ei phrofedigaeth yn sgil marwolaeth Glyn T Jones a fu mor eithriadol o weithgar ym mywyd cymdeithasol, diwylliedig a chrefyddol Cymru.Mae’r drefn yn newid ar gyfer ein cyfarfod ym mis Mehefin i’r drydedd nos Wener yn y mis. Bydd ein cyfarfod ar nos Wener, 7 Mehefin, yng Nghlwb Rygbi Aberystwyth yng nghwmni Sara Gibson, Penrhyncoch. Croeso i aelodau hen a newydd.
Gardening day
ON Thursday, 16 May, club members from the Aberystwyth and District Visually Impaired Club spent the day at the Morlan Centre, Aberystwyth, participating in a gardening day.Under the expertise of the tutor, Angela Matthys, and her husband, Peter Matthys, they enjoyed a very informative talk on how to pot and care for plants used in summer baskets and planter troughs. In the afternoon the group was allowed to get busy with hands-on planting of their own plant troughs, which were then taken home at the end of the proceedings.A buffet lunch was delivered to the venue by Helen Dimmick and her staff of the Caesar Café and the group enjoyed every morsel while catching up with other members of the group with the usual banter and good cheerfulness. Thanks were extended by Gillian Hopkins, vice chairperson, to Genene James for organising the event on behalf of the Ceredigion Association For The Blind, who had kindly agreed to fund the gardening activity. Ann James was also thanked for her assistance on the day.

Cambrian Floral Society
ON the request of some of the more competitive members, an evening of instruction in creating buttonholes and corsages was conducted by chairman, John James on Wednesday, 6 May at Bethel Chapel Vestry.
