A MULTI-STOREY car park in Aberystwyth is be turned into a drive-in cinema.

Advancing Aberystwyth ar y Blaen has announced that on Friday, 11 September, it will host Aberystwyth’s first drive-in cinema on the roof of Tesco car park.

The event was originally planned to take place last year but had to be cancelled at the last minute due to bad weather.

The film being screened will be A Star is Born with gates opening at 8pm and the film starting at sunset, which people can enjoy from the comfort of their own cars.

The event is taking place on the same night that the Commodore Cinema plans to reopen its doors.

In a statement this week, the owners of the Commodore said: “We had originally planned to re-open this week as we are now confident that we have all the necessary safety measures in place and had finished all the re-decorating and improvement work we had undertaken during lockdown.

“Unfortunately though we received a lot of damage during the recent storm and with the safety and comfort of our customers of paramount importance have decided to delay our re-opening until all repairs are completed.

“If all goes to plan (for a change) we will be hoping to re-open on 11 September with Tenet.

“Hope you can bear with us until then.”
