A BUS service between Aberystwyth and Cardiff has been extended and improved following a long campaign.

Passengers on the TrawsCymru service, which is funded by the Welsh Government can now enjoy faster and more comfortable journeys and better wheelchair access.

There will also be an on board toilet and free wifi, and a TrawsCymru Day Ticket will be valid on the service so people can visit Cardiff for the day from Aberystwyth and return for £10 (adults) and £7 (young persons).

The Welsh concessionary travel passes will also be valid for use on the service.

This coach service will also call at Port Talbot Rail Bus Interchange at the Parkway station.

A daily TrawsCymru T1S bus link will also be maintained between Aberystwyth, Lampeter, Carmarthen and Swansea with additional short journeys between Carmarthen, Cross Hands and Swansea being operated during the day on weekdays and Saturdays.

Elin Jones, who has long campaigned for improvements, said: “I’m so pleased to see that this campaign has been a success, and that the T1C has been returned with a full seven-day service in the form of a comfortable, accessible coach. It runs from Aberystwyth to Cardiff via Llandysul, linking with the Lampeter T1 service at Carmarthen.

“Many constituents had contacted me to share their concerns that after the service was initially reinstated, the bus that was put in its place was not safe, and lacked some important facilities like a toilet.

“I am pleased that this new bus now has the comfort, safety and convenience that is expected by passengers on this important route."
