A GROUP of Aberystwyth Kronberg Twinning members attended the 2017 Christmas market in Kronberg, Germany.

They were accompanied by Alan Phillips and a five-strong band of musicians from Penglais and Penweddig schools.

The current Aberystwyth mayor, Steve Davies and consort, Linda, were a valuable part of the team that ran the stall selling and promoting Welsh produce at the market.

The stall promotes Aberystwyth and Wales in general by selling goods such as Welsh cakes, jam, marmalade and Bara Brith made in Wales.

The five-day trip included a visit to Wiesbaden to see the Romanesque architecture, Christmas  market and hot springs.

A meeting of all the twinning organisations linked to Kronberg Wws held on the Friday night with a banquet in the main Stadthalle, or town hall. There, all the organisations were welcomed and after the mayoral speeches, there was a performance by the Aberystwyth band and an Italian singer called Vittorio who sings every year. The band performance was particularly well received.

The weekend Christmas market stalls are set up on the Saturday with the Aberystwyth stall positioned next to the Kronberg stall. The Kronberg stall also promotes Welsh goods, selling Penderyn whisky and gin, marmalade and lemon curd.
