Madam,

May I, through your newspaper, set the record straight regarding my absence from the Healthier Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee which discussed the future of Bodlondeb Residential Home?

My group leader, the head of Democratic Services, my fellow councillors and the chair of that Scrutiny Committee were given plenty of advanced warning of my absence due to attending a family funeral on the morning of the meeting.

It was made clear in the committee on the day that I was absent for good reason yet it seems a small section of Aberystwyth wishes to exercise a ‘Chinese-whisper’ campaign stating “had I been there then the home would have been saved!”

Well let me tell that small section of Aberystwyth society your insidious comments, not directly to my face I might add, are beyond the realms of common decency and have further upset my family in their bereavement....well done you!
