Madam,

It appears that we have an Afghanistan-type situation (where no one agrees or assumes responsibility) here in Wales when the subject of the proposed Dyfi crossing rears its ugly head.

We appear to have three gangmasters controlling development, each unwilling to do anything positive.

Gangmaster 1, is north Wales Plaid, defender of Wales HQ in Caernarfon where they have the A55, so no real interest in south Meirionnydd or the Dyfi crossing.

Gangmaster 2 is in south Wales, known as the Welsh Assembly, who really don’t want anything to do with those in north Wales and in any case they have the M4 on their doorstep so no real interest in the Dyfi crossing.

Gangmaster 3 is the councils of Machynlleth and Powys, whose job it is to keep the Old Parliament House full of visitors and who wish to retain the status quo, simply by keeping Machynlleth clogged up with heavy traffic. Tanker and HGV drivers, who do a remarkable job of keeping the traffic flow going against all odds, inadvertently cause delays on this main arterial road south and north through Machynlleth.

An arterial road is the same as an artery feeding blood to your heart. Block it either temporary or permanently and everything comes to a grinding halt.

Is there no minister in north or south Wales capable of understanding this? Or doing anything positive to help? All that is needed is a simple small bypass to the west of Machynlleth, missing out the flooding area, joining the main road to Aberystwyth.

Or are they waiting for the citizens of Tywyn and Aberdyfi to apply for a Lottery grant to make an underwater tunnelled road as they have done in the north at Conwy?

Please remember when you read this that an election is not too far away. I believe in Wales, Do you?

Yours etc,Ron Bott,Abergynolwyn.
