New plans for the £8m Bow Street train and bus interchange have been lodged as Ceredigion County Council looks to overcome potential flooding issues raised by Natural Resources Wales.

While preparatory work has been carried out at the site to level the ground, there have been concerns from Natural Resources Wales about potential flooding of the site which stopped the work for the main project beginning.

Transport for Wales has now produced an alternative plan for car parking and access to address the concerns.

It was hoped that the £8m development would be open in 2020, although it now remains to be seen whether that is possible.

Local councillor Paul Hinge welcomed the new plans and said he hoped there would be progress on the scheme in the autumn.

He said: “This revised process has been a challenge for Transport for Wales, but I would like to thank both Lowri Joyce and Dan West for being so willing to talk through issues over the last few months.

“I would also like to single out Ceredigion council’s own officers, Ann Elias, Chris Wilson, Steven Hallows, Jonathan Eurig, along with Trevor Roberts of the Rail User group, for their tireless work in helping bring this revised plan about."

The revised scheme will now be considered by Ceredigion council planning officers before it is decided whether it needs to go before a meeting of the authority’s development control committee for a decision to be made.
