AM ELIN Jones has given a cautious welcome to progress on formulating a scheme to help stop flooding in Cardigan town centre.
In December 2014, officers from Natural Resources Wales made a presentation to a packed audience at the Guildhall.
They outlined a scheme which would focus on the risk of tidal flooding, which is predicted to get more acute in future years, combined with dealing with flooding from sewers and surface flood water.
Homes in St Mary Street, Gloster Row and nearby areas have been subject to several floods in recent years.
Following the public meeting, NRW and Ceredigion Council held open sessions to gather evidence from residents, and Ms Jones urged the natural resources minister in the Welsh Government to make Cardigan a top priority for investment in flood prevention.
Now she has been assured that three agencies – Natural Resources Wales, Ceredigion Council, and Dwr Cymru – are working together on the technical details of a single, integrated scheme for the town.
