A LOCAL politician is hoping to do all he can to help those suffering with cancer by promoting a national campaign.
Lord Elis-Thomas, Independent Assembly Member for Dwyfor Meirionnydd, pledged his support to Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal in the National Assembly for Wales last week.
Lord Elis-Thomas joined forces with Marie Curie Nurses at an event at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay on Tuesday, 8 February, to help launch the Great Daffodil Appeal, Marie Curie’s biggest annual fundraising campaign.
During the event Lord Elis-Thomas said: “I fully support Marie Curie’s campaign to make ‘every daffodil count’ this February and March to raise money to help Marie Curie Nurses provide care and support to people living with a terminal illness.
“I am also encouraging people to help the charity to raise more money than ever before by simply giving a donation and wearing a Marie Curie daffodil pin, available from volunteers.
“I was very pleased to be involved in the launch of the newly formed Meirion Dwyfor Marie Curie group which was held in Porthmadog in January.
“The group will be hosting its own Great Daffodil Appeal locally and I look forward to joining them during one of their collections.”
