A LLYN hairdressing student has been headhunted and offered the opportunity of a lifetime following her participation in a national competition.

Megan Kennedy, 23, of Llanystumdwy, came third in the Avant Garde category of the prestigious Salon Cymru competition held in Cardiff recently, with only three points separating her from the winner.

Following the competition, photographs of her work were spotted by an event organiser who was so impressed that she contacted Megan, and offered her the opportunity to work her magic at the Festival de Cannes.

The international Festival de Cannes is one of the world’s most widely publicised events and certainly the most important film festival in terms of worldwide impact.

Megan said: “I could hardly believe it! I’ll be volunteering, so have funded myself, with help from my mum and dad, but what an amazing opportunity.

“This offer goes beyond my wildest dreams, and just goes to show where taking part in these competitions can lead.”

Megan’s mentor, Awena Williams from Waunfawr is accompanying Megan on her adventure.
