A football fan from Blaenau Ffestiniog was left fuming on Sunday night after the group she was with was refused entry to a pub.
Sarah Evans told the Cambrian News that she and her group were denied entry to the Prince of Wales pub on St Mary’s Street in Cardiff following Wales’ 1-1 draw against Croatia, because they were wearing Wales football shirts.
Mrs Evans’ group, which ranged in age from 18 to 57 years old and had travelled from Blaenau and Penrhyndeudraeth for the game, said it was confusing because they had been to the J D Wetherspoon pub before the match.
“It was afterwards that we weren’t allowed to go into the Prince of Wales, where we always drink before and after every home game,” Sarah said.
“They had no problem taking our money beforehand and you can imagine the disappointment about being refused entry afterwards.
“We feel as football supporters we are being discriminated against in our own country for supporting our own national team, especially when there is no restriction when the Welsh rugby team play, as I also follow both sports.”
