AN OCTOGENARIAN author and Welsh personality is celebrating the release of his 23rd book.

Dr Robyn Léwis, a former solicitor and arch druid, is well known across Wales for his personal and political beliefs.

His latest book Pure and Simple is a tongue in cheek look at some of the political and legal issues of the day, chiefly dealing in Welsh topics.

The 88-year-old described his latest book, compiled in English, as a “clutch of highly personal writings about observing and debunking Wales and further afield”.

“It’s mainly about the Welsh and Welsh speakers and deals with all sorts of things,” he told the Cambrian News.

“I write about the National Eisteddfod and legal issues, drawing on my background in law and as an arch druid.

“I’ve been writing all my life, it’s always been a hobby of mine.

“I’m no Jeffrey Archer mind, not in the financial sense. I’m a better writer though of course!”

So of all of the 23 books Robyn has had published, which one sticks out for him?

“It was a 1,200 page English/Welsh legal dictionary,” he recalled.

“It was four to five inches thick, took me years and years to complete.”
