RESIDENTS in Dwyfor and Meirionnydd have once again been asked to dig deep for cold, hungry and desperate refugees.
The Meirionnydd/Dwyfor Refugee Solidarity group is back in action and has called for more donations to help refugee camps in Syria and across the world.
Caron Dukes, a volunteer with the community action group, said: “We are currently reacting to an urgent call for refugees within Syria.
“Conditions there are horrific as the harsh winter takes hold.”
Snow is starting to fall on some of the region’s most desperate camps, with food shortages also a pressing concern.
“If you can afford to buy or donate in any way please consider doing so,” Caron continued.
“Men, women and children are freezing and starving to death in unimaginable conditions.
“Most of us have a coat, jumper, fleece or pair of shoes that we never use in our wardrobes or cupboards.
“If you, or anyone you know, is having a new year clear out please direct it this way.”
For those who would like to actively support the refugee group, there is the possibility to help with the packing/loading of the donations before they are sent abroad.
“We started back at Tad Deiniol’s Church this week,” Mrs Dukes added.
“We need a lot of hands to help us move the stock back, unload a van of new donations and get to sorting for much needed delivery of aid to Syria on 23 January.
“A warm welcome to all who wish to support.
“A happy evening with a cuppa and biscuits for volunteers with a chance to have a chat about the campaign.
“Please come and help us, thank you.”
