Madam,

I am not a leading academic, but I did use the National Library quite a lot when I was a student at Aberystwyth.

I don’t think I was actually invited to submit my article about the history of High Street photographers in Aberystwyth but, however it happened, an article was published in the winter issue of 1988.

I am very concerned that the present era will become another of the ‘Dark Ages’.

How would I have managed without the books, manuscripts and printed photographs that I consulted?

How ephemeral are the digitised dots people now rely on?

How sure are we that they will be interpreted correctly and accessible to future generations?

I do hope the Journal can continue in a tangible form, even if only once a year.

Yours etc, Elizabeth A Darlington Llanon.
