A woman who has worked for Aberystwyth Arts Centre for 24 years has been shortlisted for a national award.
Amanda Trubshaw, 50, has been shortlisted in the category of Wales Creative Mentor of the Year award, in the Wales Creative & Cultural Skills Awards.
This is the first year that the awards have taken place, and the ceremony will be in Cardiff on 29 January.
Amanda, who lives in Llandre, became the creative learning manager at Aberystwyth Arts Centre around four years ago.
Commenting on her role, Amanda said: “I manage all of the courses that happen at the arts centre that includes the dance school, stage school, and youth theatre, all of the courses here.
“But we also run outreach projects. We’ve recently completed a project out in Tregaron.”
Amanda was nominated for the award by Bethan Page, a freelance artist and facilitator.
She was nominated for the award after Bethan’s daughter began volunteering under Amanda’s supervision
But Amanda insists “it’s the young people who have been doing the work, we’re just giving them the opportunity”.
[It’s] not just Bethan’s daughter, we have lots of young people who come here for experience," she said. "And Bethan has been aware of the young people who have been able to volunteer with us.”
