The sequel to an award-winning novel by Nefyn author Casia Wiliam has been launched.

Sara Mai a Lleidr y Neidr (Sara Mai and the Snake Thief), launched on Saturday, 23 October at Palas Print, Caernarfon.

It is the sequel to the children’s novel, Sw Sara Mai, which won the Tir na n-Og Prize 2021.

The second instalment revisits Sw Halibalw and gives us the chance to get to know Sara Mai a little bit better and to learn about friendship, secrets and the importance of not judging people based on the way they look.

Author Casia Wiliam said: “I’ve been enjoying reading detective books recently, so I thought it would be fun for Sara Mai and her friends to try and solve a mystery at Sw Halibalw!

“A number of our favourite characters return, but there are also a few new faces including Princess Jasmine (Seb’s new girlfriend) and Nisien the snake of course!”

Speaking about winning the Tir na n-Og Prize, Casia said: “Winning the Tir na n-Og Prize this year was a privilege and really special. I was so happy. But my favourite thing is hearing that so many children enjoyed reading Sw Sara Mai.”

In Sara Mai a Lleidr y Neidr, someone has stolen a valuable, rare snake from Sw Halibalw. Sara, Oli and the gang must start the important work of trying to find out who the culprit is.

Will the children find the thief? Is a stranger responsible, or someone right under their noses?

Sara Mai a Lleidr y Neidr is aimed at children aged 7 to 11.
