Editor,

I must once again draw your readership’s attention to the unsavoury and illegal practice by certain dog owners of allowing their animals to defecate on the pathways, roads and playing fields that other members of the public walk on, and not pick it up!

As we see the days drawing out and in between the horrendous weather we’ve been experiencing owners especially in the Bow Street area with it’s new safer pathways, are taking their dogs out to walk and the vast majority are responsible and pick up the dog poo, but a few irresponsible owners do not!

As a councillor, next to pot holes and missed refuse collections, the state of our pathways with dog excreta is the biggest complaint I get.

As an owner of two dogs myself, I carry around in most of my pockets small bags to pick the dog’s poo up!

You can buy these bags cheaply and using them makes you a responsible dog owner.

Dog excreta in a child’s eye (Toxocariasis) can cause permanent blindness... does anyone really want that on their conscience? Bag it up and bin it responsibly!
