A MUM who will be throwing a birthday party in Abersoch in memory of her daughter is appealing for volunteers to help her.

Natalia Spencer, whose five-year-old daughter Elizabeth passed away on 10 December from a rare autoimmune condition, is currently taking part in her ‘Walk of Love’ fund-raiser which sees her walking around the coast of Great Britain, to raise money in her daughter’s memory.

Natalia hopes to raise £100,000 for The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.

The mum from Cheltenham has already walked more than 1,000 miles since she began her journey from Durdle Door in Dorset, the last beach she and Elizabeth visited together, on 14 February.

On her journey she will be visiting Gwynedd and pass through the Llyn Peninsula.

She is now calling on the local community to help her throw a special birthday party on Abersoch main beach to mark what would have been Elizabeth’s sixth birthday on Sunday, 29 May.

Volunteers and local bakers are now being sought to help organise the day and donate cakes and other treats for a cake sale in aid of the charity.

There will also be activities for children to take part in including a sandcastle competition and shell decorating, and a balloon event to mark the special occasion.

Natalia said: “Elizabeth loved the beach and the sea, and we went to the seaside a lot. It seemed only right to throw her a seaside birthday party to mark her sixth birthday.

“The walk has been a huge challenge but I have met some wonderful people along the way who have been a tremendous source of comfort.

“Wherever I have walked, local people have come out to walk with me, talk to me or offer me a cup of coffee or somewhere to stay.

“With their support I am bringing something positive from Elizabeth’s death, and I am now hoping that the community of Abersoch will help me to celebrate Elizabeth’s birthday.

“Whether you have a beach hut we can use, can bake a cake or donate some sweets to sell, or simply come to join us in remembering Elizabeth, your support would make an enormous difference.”
