A BEER festival to raise money for a local park will take place in Penryncoch’s village hall.

PATRASA (Penrhyncoch and Trefeurig Recreation and Sports Association) have organised the festival, which takes place on 7 September at 8pm.

A party in the park took place in June and raised £3,200 through the sale of raffle tickets, food and drinks.

Fundraisers hope the beer festival will top up that total, enabling them to buy equipment accessible to toddlers and young wheelchair users.

Chair of PATRASA fundraising committee, Clare Larke, said: “We’ve raised about £15,000 so far, so we’re about half way there.”

There will be a variety of craft beer on sale as well as lager, cider and wine, and the band Backtrax will provide the entertainment.

Money raised so far has enabled organisers to buy a roundabout, but more money is needed to install it and to buy a unit with a slide, bridge, climbing frame and to replace the monkey bars.

“We would like to put the roundabout in place before the end of the year,” said Clare.

“It sits in the ground so it will be accessible to wheelchair users, and the new unit will be for ages 18 months and up.

“It will be great to make the park more accessible to people with mobility issues and to little ones as there’s not a lot there for them to do at the moment.”

Tickets for the festival will be available on the door or from Glenys Morgan on 07792 967925
