A prominent Lions Club member from Aberystwyth has helped a regional group provide three new pump wells for villagers in the northern Philippines.
Benjamin Manluctao, the second vice district governor of District 105W, visited the locations alongside members of the Tetbury Lions Club between 13 January and 16 February.
During their work, the group drilled five pump wells, held a feeding programme and visited a paediatric hospital unit to distribute knitted garments to newly born babies.
Benjamin and the Tetbury Lions were joined by members of the Laoac United Lions during their visit, with club members all taking part in the installation of the pump wells at Cabilaoan, Botigue and Turko, which will provide clean water for villagers.
Benjamin said: “The drilling of the pump well at Cabilaoan was carried out by Lion members of the Laoac United Lions, of which I’m charter president.
“All Lion members had a five to ten-minute go at the work to promote fellowship and goodwill among the Lion members.
“This made the work bearable, with fun, and added more meaning to the work at hand.”
