A NUMBER of Llyn motorbike enthusiasts will take to the road this spring to raise money for the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team.
This will be the Llyn Bikers’ seventh annual fund-raising ride and will take place on 10 April.
Over the last six years the biking group has had an annual fund-raising day and raised over £33,000 for local good causes chosen by the members.
In 2010, the group supported Breast Cancer Care and with 63 bikers they managed to raise £1,907.00. In 2011, the bikers supported Gwynedd Home Hospice Care with 107 motorbikes turning out and raising £3,058.
In 2012 the team decided to raise funds for Llywelyn Williams, from Bwlchtocyn, who was hit by a car near Abersoch and unfortunately lost his leg.
This fund-raiser received huge support and 126 motorbikes took part to raise £7,200 towards Llywelyn’s support and rehabilitation.
In 2013, the group raised £4,850 and in 2014 93 bikers raised £5,505.93 for the British Heart Foundation Cymru.
Last year they raised a whopping £10,500 for the Special Care Baby Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd.
Llyn biker Eifion Roberts said: “We decided to raise funds for the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team this year for the fantastic work the volunteers carry out in our area.
“The colour for 2016 for the team will be green!
“If anyone would like to help us out on the day as a ground marshal or route marshal, please get in touch.
“After the superb success of the 2015 auction, it has been suggested we run one again this year.
The signing-in for the ride out will take place at 9am on the Maes in Pwllheli. A £5 donation is asked per bike to join the run.
The 100-mile ride out will begin at 11am.
