Course

THE new crazy golf course has been installed at the park and the Council’s Resources Sub Committee were to discuss the arrangement regarding the fees for playing there.

Hefyd cafwyd rhoddion o £1,360 er cof am y diweddar Valerie Thomas o 6 Stryd Lord i’w rannu rhwng Ambiwlans Awyr Gogledd Cymru a Ward Alaw yn Ysbyty Gwynedd.

Tractors

THERE is much looking forward to this Sunday as it is expected some 300 tractors will descend on the town as part of the Vintage Tractor Rally will be arriving from Dolgellau from noon onwards at Diffwys Square where there will be stalls, foot plate rides on the Ffestiniog Railway, the Historical Society and choral music and more provided for all tastes. The event has been organised by the Blaenau Bendigedig group who are hoping for kind weather for this unusual rally.

Councillor

FOLLOWING a vacancy, the town council has co-opted Mari Rees as the councillor representing the Tanygrisiau ward, vacated by its former councillor Paul Thomas.

Gallery

THE Maenofferen Gallery hosts an exhibition by the local camera club members for the next six weeks and no doubt will be well worth a visit like their previous exhibitions and admission is free during the library’s opening hours.

Committees

AT its annual meeting the town council has elected councillors Annwen Daniels, Eurwyn Jones, Mandy Williams - Davies, Mel Goch ap Meirion, Ronwen D Roberts, Kevin Baldwin, Bedwyr Gwilym, Elwyn Powell Jones, Will G Roberts and Gareth W Jones to serve on its various sub committees which include its resources, planning, town council, amenities, law and order, parking and transport and community wellbeing except that Mandy Williams-Davies is not on its planning and Mel Goch ap Meirion is not on its resources sub committees.

Railway

LIZ Saville Roberts MP has expressed her willingness to attend any meetings to debate the disused railway line from the Urdd bridge to Trawsfynydd and as a result the town council clerk is to arrange a meeting with Network Rail, Lottery, Antur Stiniog and of course the MP.

Camera

THE council has agreed to a request from the police to install another camera on Church Street and there is money available from the police towards its installing costs.

Advice

A REPRESENTATIVE of the Citizens Advice Bureau will be present at the library on Mondays between 10 am and 1 pm and no appointments are needed to attend.

Cycling

THE total number of cyclists from all over the UK who entered the recent fifth annual sponsored Ffestiniog 360 Challenge bike ride which started and ended in Blaenau Ffestiniog having circumnavigated the Snowdon Range was 611 with 570 who actually took on the stiff challenge. Present at the start and finish were staff from Hope House, Llandudno who helped with the arrangements and all proceeds raised by the event will be donated to Hope House as was the case following last year’s event which raised over £8,000.

Urdd

THE Urdd Eisteddfod’s Arts, Design and Tech results include a third prize to Steffan Rowlands of Ysgol y Moelwyn for his Colour Print year 7,8 and 9.

Donations

THE town council has donated the sum of £200 to Ras y Moelwyn and £50 to Ras yr Iaith.GovernorsTHE following councillors have been elected to represent the council on the board of governors of lo-cal schools namely Maenofferen School - Cllr Rory Francis; Manod School - Cllr Gareth W. Jones and Tanygrisiau School - Cllr Ronwen D. Roberts.

Planning

THE town council had no objec-tion to a planning application to demolish the former Gwynedd Council depot at Llan Ffestiniog and the construction of three affordable dwellings on the site. They also granted the application to replace existing render with pebbledash at 8, Maes y Coed,and the construction of first floor extension at Swn yr Afon, Rhydsarn.

Appointed

CLLR Mal Goch ap Meirion has been elected to represent the Town Council on the Neuadd Ffestiniog (Village Hall) committee.

Bowls

THE Bowling club resumed their North Wales League A programme with a 8-4 home win over Llanrwst A on Saturday thanks to wins from Martin and Jason Hughes, Mike Burgoyne, Ken, R.Elwyn and Stephen Jones the latter having a walkover. This Saturday they are at Abergele and the club has been drawn against Benllech in the 1st Round of the Gwynedd Cup.
