Advice
A CITIZENS Advice Bureau representative will be available to listen and give relevant information where needed every Monday at the library between 10am and 1pm and no appointments are needed to be present.
Choir
ON SUNDAY evening the Moelwyn Male Voice Choir were in concert at Betws y Coed St Mary’s Church. Conducted by Sylvia Ann Jones, accompanied by Wenna Francis Jones and the young soloists were sisters Awel and Lowri Jones and Tomos Heddwyn Griffiths. The compere was Gareth Griffiths.
The choir has a short break before their next concert at Betws y Coed on 2 September.
Resignation
AFTER accepting the resignation of Cllr Elwyn Powell Jones as the councillor for the Diffwys and Maenofferen Ward, the Town Council has declared a vacancy at this ward.
Gallery
THE Maenofferen Gallery hosts an exhibition by photographers Annie Williams and Ian Warwick under the heading of Forgotten Places. Admission to the gallery is free during the library’s opening hours.

Council
THE Town Council has donated a sum of £200 to Llwybr Llechi Eryri.
Following considerable interest in the future of the disused railway line between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Trawsfynydd, the council has agreed to hold a joint meeting with the interested parties next month the date to be confirmed.
Once it has been assured that a flag will fit on the existing base plate a new flagpole will be purchased for the Diffwys Square site.
Library
TOMORROW (Friday) between 10.30am and 12pm, the latest session for 25 children will take place, which is a teddy bear picnic with crafts and face painting. Please book beforehand.
Park
THE Park Partnership has been successful in obtaining the Green Flag for the park. In the assessment it was said that the park was in a good standard.
Fields
THE freehold of the playing fields from Gwynedd Council has been discussed by the town council’s Amenities Sub Committee.
There are minor changes to be made to the boundary at one or two fields and at Pengwndwn is an optional extra. The councillors, in accepting the information, will look closer at the equipment at Pengwndwn and the extra land on offer and report back to the town Council in September.
Memorial
FOLLOWING reports that the grass is very overgrown at the Ffestiniog War Memorial Garden, and that Gwynedd Council have not cut the grass this year, the town council are to arrange for the council gardener to cut the grass and ask for a quote for a monthly contract as at Gardd Encil.
Sports
BLAENAU Amateurs FC opened their Welsh Alliance Division 2 season with a 2-0 defeat by Llanerchymedd at Cae Clyd.
