A LLANRHYSTUD florist is celebrating a blooming success at this year’s Shrewsbury Flower Show.

Donald Morgan of Blodau’r Bedol entered seven exhibits at this year’s show and was amazed to come home with six place cards, putting his shop and Aberystwyth District Floral Society, on the map.

He gained a first in the Floristry class entitled Paradise is a garden – gaining top marks of 94/100.

RHS judge Howard Franklin said it was a “really delightful piece of floristry work with striking colour and harmony and movement. Immaculate work, well done”.

Donald also got third places in the Green and Pleasant Land category, Imposed Class - Inspired by Interior Designer, and Thumbelina, a small-scale exhibit.

The florist also gained commendations for his sunflower design and Asian Radiant Bridal BQ.

Donald said he was delighted with his success at the show, following a fantastic Royal Welsh where he gained most points, and last year’s success in Chelsea’s Gold with NAFAS Three counties and South Wales area.

He said promoting Llanrhystud and Aberystwyth and the surrounding area nationally was important.
