Investigations are still being carried out before the formal identification of a person killed when a glider crashed near Blaenau Ffestiniog over the weekend.
Emergency services were alerted on Saturday evening, 4 May, after reports that a glider had not returned as planned and they launched a search.
Air Accident Investigation Branch confirmed that they had sent a team of three investigators and one engineering support staff member to a remote scene near Blaenau Ffestiniog, where the Cirrus glider, similar to the one pictured, came down.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “The glider was located in the Blaenau Ffestiniog area and sadly a body was recovered.
“The scene has been preserved overnight and the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AIIB) are also in attendance.”
The deceased has not yet been formally identified by the North West Wales coroner.
