A CARDIGAN community group poised to take over the running of two sets of public toilets in Cardigan were eagerly awaiting the go-ahead from Ceredigion County Council this week.

Town councillors have received a flood of complaints from members of the public after County Hall revealed the toilets at Chancery Lane and Feidr Fair were to close due to financial cutbacks.

Now 4CG has stepped in with a bold plan to revamp the Chancery Lane loos to include baby-changing facilities as well as making them an example of renewable energy.

“It was a question of having to put ourselves forward because no-one else seemed prepared to do so,” 4CG secretary and town councillor Clive Davies told the Cambrian News.

“I’ve had loads of complaints ever since those toilets closed, particularly the ones in Chancery Lane.

“We also feel there’s a lack of baby-changing facilities in Cardigan, so those will be included when Chancery Lane is re-configured.

“Once these two are back up and running Cardigan will again have six sets of public toilets.”
